How to set up Clare, your AI receptionist

Clare is only as good as the context you give her. The good news: it's a one-time setup and small edits ship in minutes.

Pick a tone. Professional is great for law, healthcare, and B2B. Friendly fits salons, wellness, and most local services. Casual is best for restaurants and retail.

Write a greeting. This is the first sentence every caller hears. Example: Thanks for calling Acme Plumbing, this is Clare — how can I help you today?

List your services. Include short descriptions and a price range for each. Clare will quote ranges honestly and never invent prices.

Add FAQs. Ten to twenty of the questions you answer every day. You can also use our FAQ extractor to pull these from your existing website.

Never-say list. Anything Clare should avoid — over-promises, guarantees, refund language, competitor names. The AI will route or rephrase these automatically.

Emergency escalation. Decide which calls page you immediately (active leaks, medical, security). Everything else goes into the morning inbox.
